The objective of this research is to reveal the academic and professional profile of the respective authors and advisors of the dissertations and theses in Science Education in Area 46 at Capes, defended between 2001 and 2018. The methodological research was carried out with a state-of-the-art methodology, collecting data from the Science Teaching Documentation Center of the Faculty of Education at Unicamp and the CNPq Lattes platform. 4,078 dissertations and theses defended between 2001 and 2018 and exclusively related to Area 46 were identified. The results show that most of the students worked as basic education teachers during their master's or doctoral studies, and another significant proportion were scholarship holders. Among the supervised students, degrees in physics, biology, and chemistry predominate; 44.1% of them completed a master's degree in teaching/education courses, while at the doctoral level, this percentage increased to 50.4%.
