This article presents a discursive analysis of memes related to the image of black people that circulate on social networks. The paper seeks to answer the following question: which discourses cross the memes related to the image of black people that circulate on the internet? To answer this question, we resort to the theoretical- methodological foundations of French Discourse Analysis (AD) in order to analyze images, considered here as operators of memory and effects of meaning. The results indicate that the process of disseminating these images and their statements on social networks operationalizes the functioning of memories related to racist discourse, producing different effects, among which the relegation and disqualification of black people. In addition, the analyzed memes resume the discourse of the productivity of slave labor, hence the relation with disqualification (lack of quality work), reinforcing a racist and prejudiced ideology that is linked to historically constituted conditions.
