This article investigates the academic production that jointly addresses topics related to young people in conflict with the law, school education and life projects, based on a survey and analysis of articles produced in Brazil between 2011 and 2021, published on the Scielo platform. This documental study aimed to examine the advances and gaps in studies carried out on the subject in recent years. The results indicate that young people in conflict with the law and their relationship with the school, as well as the construction of their life project, are still topics that occupy little space in the academic agenda. The analysis of the works converges to the conclusion that the rights advocated by the current legislation are not being carried out by the actors of the Rights Guarantee System, which have not been effective for the insertion and permanence of young people in school, as an alternative to the non-involvement with the infraction and indicate that the construction of a life project constitutes a possibility of change in the future perspectives of these young people.
