The objective of the present study was to verify the occurrence of a progressive acquisition of certain spacial concepts during the stage that preceeds reading-writing learning, for which such concepts are necessary. Eight concepts were chosen and with a simple, non-verbal instrument, it was possible to establish that the acquisition of these concepts progresses from 4 to 6 years of age and is unrelated to sex.
