This study investigates the relationships between self-esteem and school success, SES, family support, self confidence and college entrance exam scores, among other variables.The sample was made of 113 applicants who took the CESCEM exam. Rosemberg's scale was used to measure self-esteem. Few of the hypothesized relationships showed significant results. The author analyze possible methodological and substantive explanations and they argue that the association between self esteem and other variables may be stronger in earlier stages of life.
