SILVA, Rose Neubauer da; GUARIDO, Elza L.  y  GRACIANO, Marília. A Study on Sex-Role Stereotypes in Parent's Perceptions of their children's Behaviours and Attitudes. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1976, n.18, pp.15-20. ISSN 0100-1574.

This study investigated sex-role stereotypes in parent's perceptions of their children's behaviours and attitudes. The instrument was a twenty-four items Likert type scale. Most of theitems were based on the Sex-Role Questionnaire developed by Inge K. Broverman et al. (1972) and represented typical sex-role behaviours and attitudes. Results showed that mothers and fathers have different perceptions of boys and girls on items related to nurturance, home or adventure orientation, leadership, dependence, competition and agressiveness. In general, fathers' perceptions seem to be more influenced by sex-role stereotypes than mothers.
