Resumo

During the period between 1962-1966, the author had the oportunity to be the teacher of Social Studies for two groups of students who attended the Vocational Junior High School of Americana, today called High School John XXIII. Intending to contribute to the evaluation of experiences inEducation, the author investigated the results of that work after an eight year period: "What are the opinions and attitudes of ex-students in the area of Social Studies concerning the way the subject was administered at the Vocacional Junior High School?" Of the 117 individuals that were part of the two afore mentioned groups, just one person was not found. All of the others responded to the questionnaire. Using a method mentioned by Thurstone, the author built attitude scales and studied relationships between variables that were considered most significant. Factorial Analysis was used to identify certain factors. Also a series of statistical processes were used to study the possible dependancy relationships. Generally speaking, the students demonstrated a high favorable attitude towards the work done during the period 1962-1966. This was in contrast to the study done immediately after the course ended, in 1966, by the "Serviço de Acompanhamento Pós-Escolar". ("Post-School Follow-up Service").
