The objective of this study is to clarify some aspects of the validity of the relations between the academic standing of students and their subsequent personal satisfaction. In 1975 the author analized the personal satisfaction and attitudes toward Social Studies for individuals who, asstudents in the Curso Ginasial (1962 to 1966), achieved the lowest and the highest levels of academic standing in the area of Social Studies. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi Square and Fishers Exact Test of Probability for the purpose of studying the relations between academic achievement and those aspects of personal satisfactions of significance in this study. The findings indicate a preference for the type of education offered by Technical Schools (Ginasio Vocacional); that is to say, schools in which practical activities are given the same importance as academic studies. This balance in the school's program retains its importance for the personal satisfaction of the individual, both culturally and professionally, even though he may have been a consistent low-achiever in a specific area of studies or academic subject.
