Characterizing Medicine as an instrument of technocratic domination in Western society, the paper examines the specific situation of Pediatrics, particularly with regard to the utilization of children as object of clinical research. This type of research, much more intense with childrenthan with adults, raises very serious ethical problems, both because the child is naturally more unprotected and because of the authoritarian context in which medical practice occurs, which is worsened by the isolation of the child in hospitals' environments. The article ends with an analysis of some practical alternatives that have been tried out in order to radically change the tendencies observed in Pediatrics.
