Labourer's family during "colonato" produced merchandises, when selling work force to the Capital, on coffee plantations, and also usevalues when producing subsistence crops. Land abundance and work force shortage partially explained this work relation. Development of capitalism changedwork and family relations on the country. The labourer's family, being expropriated from the subsistence crops, lost some of her functions, as producer of usevalues now confined to domestic work done by the woman and vital to the reproduction of the work force.
