In a research on teacher's attitudes with regard to the social class and the sex of the student, 160 teachers of São Paulo were asked in 1976, to describe what would be, in their opinion, the "good" and the "bad" pupil of the first grade. 80 descriptions of each ideal type of student were analysed, containing data on: sex, physical characteristics, children's health, behavior with regard to learning, teacher and peers and also data on pupil's family and the socio-cultural context in which they live.
