The research analyzes the physical development of 190 children during their first month of life, relating it to their conditions of life and family organization. Mother's labor, recent migration, composition of family budget, nuclear or extended families, are factors analyzed in relations children's nutritional conditions. Results point to more favorable survival conditions among extended families.
