This paper gives data on the interests of adolescent schoolchildren in their last year at High School, with regard to themes related to Health Education. The study was carried out in two schools in São Paulo City, one private and the other belonging to the State Education Department, both situated in the western area of the City. The results obtained are analysed according to the characteristics of adolescent morbimortality in Latin America and main causes of death in São Paulo State and city. For the collection of data the DELBECQ-VAN DE VEN model was used. It has been our intention, in the light of the obligatory inclusion of health programmes in the curricula in accord with the law for the regulamentation and bases of education in Brazil, law nº 5.692, of 1971, to present data for the elaboration of a more realistic and useful educational content for adolescent school-children.
