This article aims to show a brief historical review about the kind of teaching related to professional agriculture training courses. Besides, it intends to explain some of the objectives that support the actual public policies for technical agriculture teaching at "high school" level. Itis our intention to show up the principal distortions that exist between the governamental approach and the Brazilian rural reality. In this context it is seen as very important to think about the technical agriculture training not only in the specific boundaries to a professional qualification, but as one more opportunity to contribute to teenagers awareness of the social and political problems linked to the land.
