Overvie on academic research on women in Brazil, from 1975 to 1984. It circumscribe this area of studies as it distinguishes this new vision of women. The evolution of research on women is placed in the framework of the institucional expansion and diversification of Social Sciences in Brazil, as well as in its social and political contexts. Thelittle capacity of institutionalization an the lack of official financial support are stressed. The analysis of the institutional spaces that sheltered those studies, and the way were received, allows to understand the trends of research on women.
