The research project attempted to analyse the role of a woman and her activities in the organizational process of the Festival of the Divine Holy Spirit in a small town in Southeastern Brazil, in order to understand how, through her activities, she was able to aquire the position of status she in fact enjoys in the community. For the analysis,I first studied her "ritual" position in the organizational structure of the event, to then attempt and understanding of how she articulates this role, along wigh the whole of her social relations in the community, in such a way as to perpetuate her prestige and enlarge her sphere of influence in the town.
