This paper focuses a subject not much worked on by Rural Sociology: the relation between social and rural categories, work, and education. I am going to base it on three different methodological works realized on the latest years with agricultural producers and laborers of State of São Paulo. The main question is to present how sociological interpretations which are commom to the rural population, are full of prejudice, especially when related to its lower social categories, concealing the real conditions, values, and attitudes of the population along the time.
