In the history of Anthropology in Brazil, the study of the "forgotten" 50's brings to light the constitution of a network of anthropologists, educators and sociologists surrounding Anísio Teixeira. Concerned with setting up an institutional framework for education in the country, this group was a main sponsor of community studies, so as to setthe bases for a new educational policy - in what came to be known as the "golden years" of Brazilian education. The study of this interaction between social sciences and education takes us back to the previous decades, especially to the members of Escola Nova movement.
