This article studies the specialized speech on children's literature produced in Brazil, using the concepts of opinion and attitude. Texts published in the 50's (when there was a sharp increase in their production) are directly analyzed, as well as the whole of the production concerning literature for children and young people, in an attempt to explain the 50's production and make indications for the study of present production. Relying on some mystifying representations on the child, school and literature, the 50's production seems to have risen in opposition to the so-called "comic-strips threat".
