After evoking the resemblances and contrasts between the findings of Piaget and Vygotsky, the article compares the searches, methods and proposals of Soviet psychologist Alexandr Luria in the 20's and those of Argentinian researcher Emilia Ferreiro, in the 70's, showing the parallelism -in spite of the time and space gap between them - in their investigation of "pre-history of writing".
