The exam of the courses and disciplines taught at the University of São Paulo - USP (at the State capital) until 1989 lead to the identification of those approaching gender relations or concerning women's studies only in the areas of biological and human sciences. A neat interest on these subjects prevails in post-graduation rather than among under-graduates. The analysis refers to the different approaches adopted by the departments or institutes concerned, stressing the scarce incorporation of women's studies, but highlights some areas wich adopt an innovative and critical perspective, showing the inadequacy of studies that "ignore half of the population".
