Abstract

The paper seeks to identify, within the City of São Paulo, those regions, districts and subdistricts where social contradictions are sharper, where scarcity of living conditions more intensely hits childhood and youth. By drawing on data from the City and the State administrations, it outlines the process of social, economic and spacial segregation driving these populations to exclusion, with the aim of supplying basis both for people's movements and for public policy making.
