France has undergone socio-economic changes in the last decades, mainly the change in ethnic composition of the population, which have deeply affected its educational system, challenging the principles on which the Republican school had been built. This article makes a brief review of those changes, presenting current projects being onset in schooling, which may contribute to the debate on school changes in our continent.
