 In general, the Brazilian university has proved itself incapable of solving the problem of teacher training. This article proposes that we reflect on the ideas and ideologies that shaped the projects for the creation of courses in bachelor degree programs in education. These courses arose in the 30's amongst some of our most important university experiments. Special attention was given to the experiments of the University of the Federal District, the University of São Paulo, and the University of Brazil.
