This article analyses the place of the man, of the woman, and of the children in a poor family, considering that these places are defined within a hierarchical structure of relations where the masculine figure represents moral authority. The dynamics of these relationship revolve around the moral obligations of reciprocity that constitute the principle by which the poor give order and sense to the social world, in the family and out of it.
