Abstract

The article discusses the concepts of practice (and theory) envolved in teacher training, based on an analysis of the activities of the present interships at the Center for Training and Advanced Studies in Education (Centros de Formação e Aperfeiçoamento do Magistério - CEFAMs, which demonstrate an understanding of the unity between theory andpractice. To this end, it synthesizes the concepts of practice present in the training courses at the School for Teacher Training and Certification (Escola Normal e Habilitação Magistério), discusses concepts, theory, practice and praxis, and presents data from the field study, concluding that in the contradictory practices of the CEFAMs there are possibilities for realizing the referenced unity.
