Based on the analysis of the programmatic content of the subject "Domestic Education", implemented by the Reform of Public Education Fernando de Azevedo in elementary education in the Federal District in 1928 the article aims to discuss how the educators, who called themselves news, perceived the role of women: mother, wife and teacher in the society of the time. Comparing elementary education programs, different for male and female students and teaching in the normal schools, it is also disposed to perceive how the reform constituted its idea of women, supported in symbols of domestic space and accentuated gender differences in schooling.
