Abstract

How envolve the children and adolescents's understanding of their own rights, what they think about these rights violation and which ways proposed for its defence or warranty were investigated in this work. 90 subjects of 8 to 16 years old, from Madri city -- Spain, were interviewd about 7 stories specially worked out, each of them showing a problem or conflict concerning to a certain right (education, food, medical attention, true information and play), and the piagetian clinical-critical method was employed. The results show that the human rights and their violation understanding, as well as the strategies conceptions to their defence or warranty all evolve according to the subjects' age and they are presented in levels of development, in conformity to the piagetian stades proposal in the logic-mathematical domain. The conclusions point out the need for a greater spread of the infance and adolescence's rights among the subjects of these ages and for a politics that incorporates data of researches about this theme into the formal and non-formal spheres of education.
