Resumen

SETTON, Maria da Graça J.  y  VALENTE, Gabriela. Religion and education in Brazil: a reading in journals (2003-2013). Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 2016, vol.46, n.160, pp.410-440.  Epub 01-Abr-2016. ISSN 1980-5314.  https://doi.org/10.1590/198053143529.

The article analyzes texts on the interface between religion and education in the areas of anthropology, education, history, and sociology. The investigation was conducted between 2003 and 2013, in journals of selective editorial policy. Based on the reading, Brazil is considered a very religious country, even though the traditional religions have lost space. Furthermore, it is noticeable that both spheres are marked by tension in which the demands of secular and religious orders are present, especially in terms of political and cultural identities. Brazilian religiosity is strong as a cultural practice, and faith, is for many, a respite in the moments of institutional and existential voids as well as an identity instrument.
