This study aimed to find out about the achievements and challenges faced by rural students in distance education. The research had an ethnographic approach using interviews and observation. Researchers found that participants were able to develop their personal skills, gain knowledge in the professional field and obtain professional qualification to aspire to better job opportunities. The challenges faced are the lack of skills in handling information and communication technologies, internet connectivity and the adaptation to the distance learning modality. Finally, the research explained the lack of knowledge about the challenges faced by distance learning students in rural areas as well as their achievements.
