Abstract

MEYER, Karyn; CASTILHO, Katlin Cristina de  and  CARMO, João dos Santos. MATHEMATICAL ANXIETY AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY, PARENTING STYLE AND SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 2023, vol.53, e09989.  Epub Dec 12, 2023. ISSN 1980-5314.  https://doi.org/10.1590/198053149989.

This study aimed to identify, through a systematic literature review, what is already known about the relationship between mathematical anxiety (MA), family, parenting style and socioeconomic status. The searches were carried out in the electronic bases Portal de Periódicos Capes and Web of Science, including only articles published from 2001 to 2020. The most relevant aspects in the articles include environmental, behavioral, affective, academic and economic factors. None of the articles presented a discussion about the concept of family in historical, social and cultural terms. We discussed that, when working with parents and caregivers in the relationship between MA and family, we deal with risk factors that predict MA. We consider the importance of historical and cultural foundations that make it possible to build a posture characterized by the ability to be in the dynamics of reality and to interfere in this dynamic as such.

Keywords : ANXIETY; MATHEMATICS TEACHING; FAMILY; SOCIOECONOMIC INDICATORS.
