Abstract

HAAS, Clarissa; BAPTISTA, Claudio Roberto  and  FREITAS, Cláudia Rodrigues de. SCHOOL SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS AND PUBLIC POLICIES IN SPECIAL EDUCATION. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 2024, vol.54, e10545.  Epub Sep 11, 2024. ISSN 1980-5314.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1980531410545.

In this study, we problematize the motivations and the justifications that involve the demand for school support professionals in the day-to-day of the public education network of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Focusing on the cognitive approach to public policies, we characterize the research as exploratory-qualitative. We carried out a documental study using legal and normative guidelines associated with news about school support professional in the media. We identified in the referred education networks evidence of judicialization of education based on the judicial demand for school support professionals; the excessive valorization of the individualized support in the logic of disability as incapability; and of the consequent pathologization of public policy.
