CASTORINA, José Antonio; BARREIRO, Alicia  e  TOSCANO, Ana Gracia. Educ. Real. [online]. 2005, vol.30, n.01, pp.201-222. ISSN 0100-3143.

The terms implicit theory and social representation are used in a relatively imprecise manner in the psychological and educative fields. The aim of this article is to introduce the meaning of each term in a methodical way, detailing: structure and function, specificity of its "implicit character", the relationships with the scientific knowledge and also the procedures and methods used during this study. As a consequence of this analysis a criticaI comparison between both terms is established, underlining the individual and social origin of each concept. Finally, the features identified are placed in the conceptual network of each theoretical frame and some conditions for a possible dialog are proposed.

Palavras-chave : Implicit Theory; Social Representation; Mental Processing; Social Interaction.
