Using the theoretical framework of post structuralism, this paper focuses on the mediations of cinematographic images on the construction of gender identities. Based on an empirical research, the text analyzes the contingent nature of images appropriation processes by women teachers. Image is presented as an anchor for self reflection and transformations related to issues of gender and sexuality. Finally, I discuss some possibilities of widening the perception on gender issues through mediations introduced in image reading.
