Abstract

VIEIRA, Adriane  and  SOUZA, Jorge Luiz de. Body conceptions within postural education. Educ. Real. [online]. 2006, vol.31, n.01, pp.145-161. ISSN 0100-3143.

This article discusses the impact of different body conceptions within postural education. Body and Health Anthropology states that different ways of treating the body contribute to produce different bodies. Having knowledge from different fields give us the possibility to have a multidimensional view of the body and allow us to discuss the biomedical approach, which has been dominant in postural education. Emphasizing the mechanical and perceptive body approach we offer reflections about the parameters that give support to different body conceptions within postural education, and about the bodies they are helping to generate.

Keywords : Postural Education; Body Posture; Somatic Education.
