This study aims at analyzing Matthew Lipman’s concept of experience through the genesis of the process of artistic creation and of the aesthetic experience. To the author, it is in the natural, material, and real environment that the more primitive response is given to the problems found by men and this context is the foundation to our educative experiences, what would be exemplified, in his case, by his proposal of a Philosophy for Children Program. The focus of the analysis of the lipmanian concept of experience follows the traces which are present in deweyan tradition, that is, an aesthetics perspective. One of the motives of Lipman which made him follow this way of analysis of the human experience is his academic work which has begun in the discipline of Aesthetics, also because of Dewey’s influence on his thought and others well known aestheticists of his time.
