This paper analyzes the relationship between cinema and children, from some theoretical-conceptual views of the cinema as an art, industry, mechanism and language. As for the relationship between cinema and imagination, the understanding of how the different ways of seeing movies act in the construction of the children’s imaginary is saught, as a way to comprehend the representations that children make of their experience with the cinema. Considering that researching with children can be a way of critically understanding the current cultural production, this text presents aspects of an empirical research carried out with children from different socio-cultural contexts, and proposes some possibilities of mediation between cinema and education.
