The results of a curriculum innovation experience in science teaching for professional education of youths and adults are discussed in this paper. The pedagogic proposal is supported by the Case Based Learning Methodology and by a virtual learning ambient. The goal is to analyze the adequacy of methodological approach adopted. To this, it was observed the student’s participation in the investigation process. The expectation is that the educational proposal could provide to the students learning for work and citizenship. The object of analysis is the student’s conceptions evolution and the acquisition of appropriate skills and attitudes, during the course of a thematic study about nanotechnology. The conclusion obtained was that virtual spaces can contribute to meaningful learning, constituting an important resource for science teaching, in particular, in professional education for youths and adults.
