SILVA, Andrea Costa da; SIQUEIRA, Vera Helena Ferraz de  y  LACERDA, Nilma Gonçalves. Literature and sexuality: visibility and silence in teachers appropriations. Educ. Real. [online]. 2010, vol.35, n.01, pp.233-251. ISSN 0100-3143.

This paper, based on foucaultian concepts, focus in the analysis of the meanings constructed by a group of teachers in the appropriation of literary books that approach the issue of teenage pregnancy. From the appreciation of teachers’ discourses, it was possible to perceive spaces of rarefaction and silence in the hegemonic concern about teenager’s sexuality with the main purpose of transmitting information . We concluded that the appropriation of the literary book, as a cultural device, needs more critical proposals in the context of meaningful changes, not only limited to the framework of the educational field.

Palabras clave : Literature for Young People; Education; Sexuality; Teenage Pregnancy.
