This article focuses on the procedures of choice in adolescence, based primarily on psychoanalytic theory. Highlights the importance of the theme for the field of education, since the choices of adolescents are crucial for the positions taken thereafter as adults. Besides the historic raid on the subject, the article presents the conception of adolescence to psychoanalysis, using the formulations on the subject of desire and the operations of alienation and separation to analyze the processes of choice, opposing the psychoanalytic proposal to the impositions of capitalism with its unbridled use of the image.
