MACHADO, Marina Marcondes. A criança é performer. Educ. Real. [online]. 2010, vol.35, n.02, pp.115-137. ISSN 0100-3143.

The article enters into dialogue with the concept of childhood that Maurice Merleau-Ponty introduced in his Sorbonne Lectures on child Psychology and Pedagogy. The article stems from the author’s post-doctoral research on the subject of dramaturgical creation in the methodology of work in process. The fusion of ethnography, the study of street scenes and the creation of theater scripts led the author to propose the concept of the child as performer, an original insight based on the phenomenological tradition and the concept of childhood cultures. The article addresses the notion that scholars of the contemporary scene name performance and performer, proposing a view of the child as performer useful in the fields of Theater Pedagogy and Childhood Education.
