In this essay we reflect on the antagonistic potential of political-pedagogical actions. We have carried out - thinking on the articulation between political traditions and models of democracy - a brief analysis of the educational public sector vis-à-vis the structuring process of national states. We have established, since a critical comparison of the political-pedagogical experience of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT) (national trade unionist organization) and the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) (landless movement), epistemological bindings among education, polity, economics and culture. We outlined our critics to the republican notion of public space unity, to say that the building of political-cultural spaces relatively autonomous to the democratic institutions is a possibility condition for the emergence of antagonistic political-pedagogical practices.
