This article points out, in its first part, to aspects of the theoretical and methodological debate in social sciences field and policy studies that have contributed to readdressing the investigations in the education field. Furthermore, the article describes some studies that aim at drawing other theoretical and methodological orientations in the area of educational policies, seeking to grasp what actually occurs in the management of educational systems and school spaces, which is increasingly the examined focus.
