Childhood had been documented and studied during the XX century, according to an evolutionary perspective that considered it as the period of adult rationality origin. In this paper we intend to analyze this conception, named the anteriority of childhood, discussing some elements that indicates an rethinking about children specificity. In this sense, in dialogue with authors from differents knowledge fields we try to discuss the singularity of the symbolical expressions and social participations of the child.
