Abstract

NORMAND, Claudine. Which Subject?. Educ. Real. [online]. 2011, vol.36, n.03, pp.681-691. ISSN 0100-3143.

The article, based on linguistics, focuses on the terms subject, individual and person, comparing the effect of their use in the context of ordinary language and the meaning they assume when employed in contemporary theories in the social sciences and humanities. Assuming that writing of language differs from writing in language, the study demonstrates the persistence of meanings in ordinary language and how it rejects foreign meanings. The article concludes that a careful linguistic analysis makes it possible to recognize that, among specialized discourses, the efforts to produce new meanings about man and society produce jargons which remains limited to the understanding of the experts themselves, not being recorded in ordinary language.

Keywords : Language Use; Subject; Individual; Person.
