Abstract

SILVEIRA, Marisa Rosâni Abreu da. The difficulty in mathematics on students’ discourse: resonances of meaning from a discourse. Educ. Real. [online]. 2011, vol.36, n.03, pp.761-779. ISSN 0100-3143.

Math is hard became a naturalized resulting expression of re-assigned meanings to events that have marked the history of the discipline. The student recognizes this discourse that circulates in common sense and the school community and to live with the effects of pre-built speech, affiliated to it, but to interpret it, says its senses. The meaning given to Mathematics, the student picks of the discourse was analyzed through reflections of what he says. This analysis helped to realize that the difficulties in learning mathematics, expressed in the voice of the student show adherence to the already-told of the discipline as well as the displacement of meanings produced, confirming the heterogeneity that it is constitutive.
