Abstract

The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the distinct educational practices that could be included in the field of theatre education. Also, as a result, to propose the need to develop, from a scientific and academic perspective, a discipline which should offer a systematic, rigorous and normative description about what theatre education is as a specific area in the educational field, as well as about its relevant and differential features, compared to other similar areas. It also identifies essential processes to develop in the construction of Theatre Pedagogy as science and discipline, as well as in the training of educators and as an area of specific research.
