Abstract

LEBOURG, Elodia Honse  and  COUTRIM, Rosa Maria da Exaltação. I Didn’t Want to Be Here: youth, high school education and displacement. Educ. Real. [online]. 2018, vol.43, n.2, pp.609-627. ISSN 2175-6236.  https://doi.org/10.1590/2175-623664657.

Entering the high school means, for many students, an important moment for the establishment of their identity. This article is the result of a study that sought to understand how young people from a small district that started to travel daily to the municipal center to study at the High School realized this transition process. Eight young people were heard, and their statements were analyzed using configuration profiles. It was found that, for them, as well as for others in the same situation, entering the High School is a delicate moment of transition that, besides the change of school, requires changes in their routines and interfere in their relations with the space and their sociability ties.
