Resumen

TELLO, César. The professionalization of teaching in Latin America and the discursive meanings of neo-liberalism: 1990-2012. Rev. Inter Ação [online]. 2013, vol.38, n.1, pp.67-87. ISSN 0101-7136.  https://doi.org/10.5216/ia.v38i1.25130.

This article presents the partial results of a study which analyzes the discursive meanings of the professionalization of teaching. It discusses the privatizing ideological continuity of international organizations and their relationship with certain countries in the region where professionalizing mechanisms linked to accountability have been established. Firstly, the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank documents are methodologically and longitudinally analyzed from 1990 to the present, as well as programs currently being drawn up in certain selected countries: Peru, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador. It also analyzes the websites of the ministries of education in each country. The results of the inquiry established a clear ideological discursive continuity of the credit agencies with regard to the professionalization of teaching and the diversity and nuances of neoliberal continuity in the countries included in the sample analysis.

Palabras clave : Neoliberalism; Post-Neoliberalism; Teaching Policies; Professionalization of Teaching.
