Resumen

SCORSOLINI-COMIN, Fabio; TFOUNI, Leda Verdiani  y  NEDEL, Angelita Zamberlan. Our dead, your war : discourse and the silencing of speech during the 2004 terrorist attacks in Spain. Rev. Inter Ação [online]. 2013, vol.38, n.1, pp.219-234. ISSN 0101-7136.  https://doi.org/10.5216/ia.v38i1.16079.

Based on French Discourse Analysis, this article sets out to investigate popular discourse about the 2004 terrorist attacks in Madrid, Spain. An analysis of the slogan "Nuestros muertos, vuestra guerra" (our dead, your war) on some demonstration banners of the time, shows that there is no one single meaning for it. This fact highlights the need to look at the context in which the slogan was written and also at the history of production of meaning, which does not just refer to the attacks of 2004, but also to other historical events in the country (separatism and conflict groups) and the global context, such as the 2001 Al Qaeda attacks on USA.

Palabras clave : Discourse Analysis; Silencing; Interdiscourse; Terrorism; Spain.
